Post extract

On my homepage I am displaying some posts from a single category. The entire post is displayed each time, and I would like to only show a line or two with a Read More button, so that these posts look like a list. I can’t find a way to make it look this way, even though it seems like it should be a simple thing to do.

Any pointers?
(I’m really happy with the theme, by the way!)
